Best. Summer Drink. Ever.

The best summer drinks are cool, sparkling and really easy to drink. This one is—without a doubt—the best summer drink I’ve ever had. It’s perfect for poolside, a cocktail at a summer dinner party, or just a refreshing end to a day of fun (or work) in the sun.

I haven’t found a version that actually has a cool name, so we’re still going with Beer Lemonade with Vodka and Raspberry. It’s really simple.

  • 4 cans of beer
  • 1 can of frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 1 package of frozen raspberries (plus some fresh for garnish, if you must)
  • 2/3 cup of vodka.

Mix gently in a pitcher and serve soon in glasses over ice. Make sure you get a few of the defrosted raspberries into each glass. They keep the flavour intense, and offer a delicious treat at the end of the drink. Some people add a slice of lemon.

Yeah, it’s that easy. Warning: This drink is really easy to consume, and it packs a punch. We used Budweiser, though some people say Corona is better. Try it both ways and decide for yourself. Some people will say “no thanks, I don’t really like beer”, but this tastes nothing like a beer. The beer sparkles the drink and cuts the sweetness, but the lemon/raspberry flavour dominates.

Updated Photo: This is the pitcher made according to the recipe. Serves 4 generously or 8 nicely. Be prepared to make a couple batches.

Update: Shandy—a lemon flavoured beer—is popular this summer. So I’m calling this Raspshander. Let’s see if that catches on.

I know, right? Still looking for a catchy name. We’re still using “that beer raspberry drink” as we enter a new summer season.
